CNSProfile™

Intra-Cellular Therapies has developed a state-of-the-art technology platform, called CNSProfile™, that is capable of generating a unique molecular signature for drug compounds. Specifically, CNSProfile™ measures the levels of phosphoproteins, proteins whose activity has been modified by attachment of a phosphate group to a specific site. Operating through distinct intracellular pathways, neurotransmitters and many drugs adjust the relative levels of intracellular phosphoproteins, and thereby influence nerve cell activity. Using highly selective antibodies as probes, the CNSProfile™ tracks subtle changes in disease-relevant phosphoproteins before and after drug treatment, generating a "molecular snapshot" of a nerve cell's integrated response.

This profile provides the company with a proprietary and unique window into the intracellular action of CNS drugs or drug candidates. The profiling data enable us to select and to optimize our internally-derived and proprietary drug candidates and to evaluate potential in-licensing candidates.

CNSProfile™ of Psychotropic Drugs. Using antibodies directed against neuronal phosphoproteins, ITI generates a unique view of drug action. The resulting color-coded profile facilitates the selection and optimization of drug candidates. Each column (#1-23) corresponds to a different drug, which changes the phosphorylation status of critical neuronal proteins (IA-001-10) over time, as shown in each row. The red and blue represent increases and decreases, respectively, in the levels of phosphorylation relative to untreated controls.
