ITI-009

ITI-009 refers to a family of distinct small molecular weight compounds that have been shown to penetrate into the brain and lower β-amyloid levels. The deposition of amyloid in the form of plaques is thought to trigger the cascade of events leading to Alzheimer's pathology. Removal of β-amyloid is currently believed to be a critical target for eventual treatment.
